Nature Reserve and Wildlife Park Goldau
An Animal Park for Big and Small
Visit the Nature Reserve and Wildlife Park Goldau, not for the lions, but for the wide array of native animal species such as wolves, bears, lynxes, otters, bearded vultures, and some hundred more. The zoo, one of ten such institutions in Switzerland, is located in scenic Goldau, where the commitment to protecting and preserving the local animal kingdom dates back to 1925. Today the park welcomes around 400,000 visitors per year. Children won't soon forget feeding sika deer and mouflons by hand (with food provided by the zoo, part of the animals' daily rations), or the various playgrounds where they can run around and let off steam. The zoo can be reached from Vitznau with the Rigibahn via Rigi Staffel or with a bus connection via Brunnen or Küssnacht.
