Kräuterwanderung auf der Rigi – botanische Entdeckungen am Südhang

The Rigi not only impresses with its fascinating views. It also offers a rich flora and winding paths that are little known.

We start at Rigi-Staffel (1560 m above sea level) in the mountain spring and discover the fascinating alpine flora in the first part of the route up to Staffelhöhe. Then we hike slowly botanizing and enjoying the view lower down via Kaltbad and Felsentor-Romiti (photo) to Mittlerschwanden (685 m above sea level) into the summer flora to the lowland plants. On the same day, we can encounter a wide variety of medicinal plants, wild herbs and alpine flowers. And of course you will learn lots of interesting facts about the effects and identifying features of the medicinal plants, hear exciting stories about their significance in folklore and superstition and discover many little wonders along the way. If you want to shorten the descent, you can take the Rigi Railway earlier in the second part of the hike (from Romiti, Freibergen or Gruebisbalm).
