Artillery Fortress Vitznau

The fortress is a witness of the Second World War and the subsequent decades of the Cold War. With its artillery still intact, the fortress had the task of blocking the Lucerne-Stans axis and the accesses to the Brünig Pass and the Engelberg Valley, as well as protecting the Buochs/Ennetbürgen airfield. Today the fortress is accessible to visitors and the lively stories of the last fortress wardens guarantee an impressive experience. The fortress can even be booked for overnight stays for groups.
